Maple Leaf Project

Maple Leaf Project - Grace Patrick

It all started when…

A couple of years ago I started hearing and reading a lot of news stories about the issue of woman abuse, human trafficking, and women's rights. I decided that since it was Canada's 150th year of confederation I would make 150 individual maple leaf paintings. For every painting sold, a share of the profits went towards supporting our local shelter, London Abused Women's Center (LAWC). By July 1st I had sold out and was able to hand over a cheque to the LAWC.

It was so rewarding to use my love of creating in such a meaningful way!

Justin Trudeau, our Prime Minister has the 150th leaf along with a letter asking that our government make these issues a priority.

The 150 Maple Leaf initiative ignited a continued flame of creativity! Leaves are still created today, to continue the conversation.
